Sustainable Fashion
At Greater Action, we upcycled donated preloved clothes into alluring fashion. Each item is uniquely designed, and handcrafted with devotion by refugee women artisans.
Meet the Artisans
In woven hues, our voices sing,
Of struggles faced, of hope we bring,
In each creation, our spirits cling.
Meet
Maryam
Maryam joined GA in early 2022 when she was pregnant with her second child. She is a young creative woman with an amazing talent for weaving T-shirt stripes and creating intricate ethnic necklaces. She was trained to share her skills during our school and corporate migration workshops. Maryam’s refined taste and eye for design are her gifts to the world, crafting beauty and a better life for her two young boys
Meet
Zahra
- The Woman with Unbreakable Will
Zahra’s story is one of bravery. A skilled tailor from Kabul, she escaped domestic violence and persecution, protecting her three children on a perilous two-year journey. Joining Greater Action in 2024, her skilled hands now craft the bags that give her a new beginning. She has gone through a lot of hardship, fear, and anxiety but today her family has received their long awaited refugee status and finally can feel more safe and protected.
Meet
Khatema
Khatema is our first tailor since 2021 who trained hard and become an expert quickly! After her husband’s tragic accident in 2023, she rose as the family’s pillar, providing for her three children. Her dedication shines through her meticulous work on Caroline bags and French pouches, and her mentorship uplifts every newcomer. Khatema isn’t just sewing fabrics; she’s stitching a future of hope for her family
Meet
Masoma
Masoma joined GA in 2021. She has 3 children and has been in Malaysia since 2016. Life has been tough here and her husband, though an engineer, could not access high-profile job opportunities, so Masuma works to complement her husband’s income. She crafts lovely embroidery on cushion covers at night after she has completed her house chores as a mother. She teaches embroidery during our school/corporate workshops and enjoys the inclusiveness of the experience.
Empower Refugee Women
